These are the easy images to capture! Even if I have to chase, bribe or do an entire shoot knowing I'll have to photoshop Smarties out of the picture, children are a pleasure to photograph because of their natural expression. Happy or sad, stressful or fun...I always manage to capture some great images of infants, toddlers, kids, tweens and even teens!
My studio is portable and located within my home. I have a few simple backdrops and shoot with minimal props however I do encourage parents to bring toys, special blankets or keepsakes to use during the shoot. Lately I have been starting to do what I like to call "Environmental" portraits in people's homes....I find great inspiration in a new nursery or child's toyroom or even using some window light and the back of a couch! It's amazing what we as photographer's can do in a small area with a few tricks of the trade!
In the warmer months I look forward to shooting outside my home. My home is situated on Lake Erie facing East toward the grain elevators in Port Colborne and backs onto the Morgan's Point Conservation Park which faces West toward Long Beach. I am very blessed to have such an amazing location for portraits!
